Have a Question ?

How do I know what colour to choose is right for me?

You need to begin with finding out what your current base shade is. That is, what colour you have now not your ‘natural hair color you were born with’. We’ve provided a ‘Base Color Chart’ to help you find out what level you are. You may also have 2 colors in your hair, your base color (regrowth) and an existing artificial color in your mid-lengths and ends. Be aware color cannot lighten color. If your hair is artificially colored and darker than your target, the color will not lighten your hair. Color on color goes darker. (Insert link to Base Color Chart)

You will also find on each product your “Best Match’ to create the colour

If in doubt you can message use on info@fabulastcolor.com and one of our color technicians will be able to assist.

How do I prevent ‘banding’ from a previous colour?

⦁ When coloring over previously colored hair, be sure not to overlap as this will create a darker band where the new color goes over your old color.  The solution is to apply colour to the roots only and ‘feather’ with a comb just passed the regrowth area.

You will have no need to color your whole head every time, if you’re coloring regularly just touch up your regrowth

⦁ If you’re coloring to cover those pesky greys, you may need to color through to the mid-lengths and ends also

How do I apply the color by myself?

We thought it best that rather than write it all down you can watch our video tutorial on how to section your own hair. Once you’ve mastered the sectioning, it’ll make applying your color that much easier.

UHOH! My Grey’s are not covering?

Oh we hear you! This is due to more often than not the texture of grey hair which is far more resistant and coarse therefore requiring more time to absorb the color. Whilst all our colors will cover grey we recommend using the following shades 4N, 6N, 7N 5NVA or 8NVA

Mix color in 1:1 (1-part colour and 1-part Developer) and allow to process for 45 mins. Start timing after you’ve completed applying all the color

Do I color my hair wet or dry?

FAB.U LAST COLOR we recommend you color your hair when its completely dry. For best results you’ll not have washed your hair the day before and have very little if any styling product in as this may prevent absorption.  Also, its recommended not to wash your hair for approx. 24-48 after you’ve colored your hair – we really want to lock your color in so it lasts as long as possible

Hot Roots?

This terminology is used when you’ve colored your roots and the results are warmer or appear lighter in color. Why does this happen? Well when you color your roots (new regrowth untouched) a lighter color then natural hair will lift. SOLUTION - To prevent this we recommend you choose a color slightly darker that your existing color treated hair and apply to the root area only.

Another example is when you try to lighten your hair all over. The hair nearest your scalp will lift lighter and a lot faster than the rest of your hair. - The solution to this is to apply the color to the mid-lengths and ends first. Allow to process and mix a new batch of color and apply to the roots. Then emulsify the whole head

When do I need to tone my hair?

My blonde hair is turning copper, gold, brassy or warm – This often happens when colour begins to fade and you don’t really need to color your roots. We recommend using one of our FABU.U LAST Toners to remove unwanted warmth .021VAT, 10VAT or 22VT
